Bottom Paint

PREPARATION FOR YOUR BOTTOM PAINT PACKAGE

We are well versed in the requirements of our manufacturers, and always follow their guidance to a T. This is a part of what makes up BAMS’ high standards of excellence and superb reputation for marine engineering and boat repair. After a careful pressure washing of your yacht, we use a vacuum sander fitted with a sandpaper grit appropriate for the condition of your vessel, the depth of your damage and corrosion. Of course, areas which the sander cannot reach will be done by hand so your entire yacht is ready to receive and “hold onto” the new paint application.

BOTTOM PAINT PACKAGE

Bottom paint is considered standard maintenance which is a critical part of keeping your boat protected from corrosion, live organisms which will eat into your hull if left unchecked . How often you should get bottom paint depends on many factors such as how often you sail, where you dock your boat, and when your boat bottom was last painted; to evaluate your vessel’s need, we recommend consulting with your diver first.

Our Package Includes:

Hauling and pressure washing

* Additional charges may apply if bottom paint condition requires additional washing, cleaning or sanding.

Responsible disposal of any toxics generated from cleaning.

Sanding and preparation for bottom paint, as per paint manufacturer.

Taping the waterline

* Despite our careful efforts, occasionally some of the topside paint – depending on its age and condition, may come off when the tape is removed. If this occurs, we will work with you to repair the area with the appropriate treatment.

Choosing between antifouling paints: Sharkskin, Interlux or Petit.

Applying two coats of rolled paint

* Additional extra cost if another coat is requested.

Final cleaning of your vessel

* We cover all of the deck walk ways on your vessel to protect the surfaces from dirt and dust. However, there is always dust on your boat when it is in the yard.

ADDITIONAL SERVICES

You may require additional bottom work while your boat is hauled. It’s best to tackle these at the same time as it will save you paying for a second haul out. Also, some work may be required at the time of your haul out to keep your yacht safe.

We can help you to evaluate which of these services you may need for your vessel:

Through-hull and seacock replacement

Cutlass bearing replacement

Seacock replacement

Keel repairs

Blister repairs

Steering repairs or corrections

Anode replacement

Underwater Installations: transducers, speed meters, fish finders and depth sensors.

ProSpeed application for shaft and/or propeller

* This treatment is highly recommended because it neutralizes corrosion.
